You know how after you order something online, you start getting emails from the company highlighting new products, best sellers, and presales? Guess what--There generally isn’t some marketing person hitting “Send” every day directing those to your inbox. It’s an automated process.

In keeping with Castiron’s “work less, sell more” ethos, may we present to you the new Newsletter Automation: Biweekly shop updates that send to your entire subscriber list. And the best part--you don't have to do anything for this to work for your business!
Castiron’s product designers have done a total refresh of the look and feel of your Shop Update emails to improve:
- Customer Engagement: Twice a week (Mon & Fri), automated emails will send the most relevant products, features, and content from your shop to your customers, keeping them informed and interested in your business.
- Stay Top-of-Mind: Regular communication keeps your shop fresh in your customers' minds, encouraging repeat purchases and loyalty. "This email just reminded me I wanted to order more of those."
- Boost Your Sales: Engaging newsletters can drive traffic to your shop and increase your sales by promoting your best products and latest updates. "That look delicious! I need to try that new flavor!"
What you need to know:
- This feature is Active in your shop by default. As always, you have control and can inactivate (and reactivate) it at any time from the Marketing > Automations tab.
- You can send yourself test emails to see what the emails for the week will look like to customers before they go out.
- You will have stats on how many of the updates have been sent from your shop and how much revenue is generated from them.
- You will still have Email Marketing template options where you can create and schedule emails with the content of your choice.
Are you a data person? When looking at the why, the data shows on average, in Castiron so far this year, timely automated emails outperform manual seller sent emails in every metric:
- 126.67% better open rate
- 75% better click through rate
- 37.5% better conversion rate
Everything is automated so all newsletter emails will go out automatically on Mondays and Fridays. Below is a screenshot of what it will look like in your Castiron admin. The send frequency and last sent date will show in the automations details view as well as number sent and revenue generated.
Why the new format?
We hypothesize that improving the frequency, the quality, the relevancy, and the uniqueness of the existing newsletter automation will lead to increased subscriber engagement and sales.
This newsletter is a major revamp of the previous version to make it more timely, more relevant, and more engaging to drive results and make you money!
Here is what we learned about the previous version of the “Shop Update” emails:
- They didn’t send often enough - Did not keep customers engaged or help sellers optimize their opportunities to connect with customers (and sell more).
- Too repetitive - The last version was easy to ignore with recycled pre-written content.
- Not enough information - They only included a few products and a short blurb that required manual intervention to make them relevant - sellers needed to write their custom message and select relevant products every week for the newsletter to be fresh. If they forgot, customers got the same content every week.
We fixed all of that with this update!
1. Now sending twice a week: The industry standard for best results - engaging but not overwhelming
2. Everything will be expertly written with AI - No repetitive content, always timely with what’s going on and what’s being offered in your shop. It is customized to what you are selling and promoting.
3. Includes information across your entire shop. From current holidays & occasions to new offerings, presales, and custom products it helps match customers with the things they may be interested in buying now.
Brief overview of automated Newsletter emails:
- Newsletter automations are on by default for all sellers
- Sellers can turn the automation off in admin > Marketing > Automations tab
- This replaces the old weekly/monthly Castiron shop update automation
- Subject line, short blurb at start of emails, and headlines written using AI
- When automation is on, it sends 2 emails per week (Monday and Friday)

No manual intervention is required! Sellers now have a timely, relevant, always fresh, twice weekly newsletter and we’ve removed the requirement for participation to make it that way. Do what you do best and watch the orders come in when you work less and sell more with Castiron!
